Orchids

I have been for­tu­nate to study in many work­shops with artist Lian Zehn. He taught me the inter­est­ing poured water­color tech­nique, using only 3 colors. This paint­ing is done in this very free Chi­nese style.

Studio Day

Ok…My Plein Air paint­brush is just itch­ing to get out­doors and paint,  but here in NY we are still wait­ing some­how for Spring. Today it is foggy and over­cast and damp out­side. …No wor­ries, there is always the art stu­dio, and I will work on my lat­est oil por­trait that I call “Gini” I am paint­ing it from a very worn out black and white photo, and I am enjoy­ing every minute of this paint­ing adven­ture. So far, I have most of her face done, but now for the hard part…her hair. Wish me luck!

After what feels like an eter­nity of win­ter weather, we finally hit 50 in NY. Hur­ray, time to dust off the easel, locate my brushes and ven­ture out for some Plein Air Painting…I will share my paint­ing soon

We paint en Plein Air (out­doors), sketch, and pho­to­graph the amaz­ing beauty of local barns, build­ings, beaches, lakes, trees, and cap­ture it in our art. Serendipity

This is a water­color that I was com­mis­sioned to paint, cre­ated from my clients photos.It was later hung in his office over his desk to remind him of his favorite pastime.
